About us

The Ukrainian Scientific Diaspora in Spain was founded after the full-scale military invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation and is part of the initiative “Ukrainian Scientific Diaspora | Ukrainian Science Diaspora” (https://ukrdiaspora.nauka.gov.ua/uk/spilnota/ukrayinska-naukova-diaspora-v-ispaniyi/).
This initiative was created and operates with the support of the Office for the Support of Scientists of the Council of Young Scientists under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the NGO “Innovative University.”

The main goal of the Ukrainian Scientific Diaspora in Spain is to unite Ukrainian and Spanish scientists in order to deepen Ukrainian–Spanish relations, encourage researchers to carry out joint projects with Spanish colleagues, strengthen material and technical capacities (through grants), support Ukrainian scientists in Spain, and assist them in fulfilling their scientific interests and personal self-realization.

Anyone currently residing in Spain may join the Ukrainian Scientific Diaspora in Spain, provided they are citizens of Ukraine or identify themselves as Ukrainian by origin (have Ukrainian roots), have or previously had the status of a scientist/researcher, and are interested in joint research and other projects related to the recovery and development of Ukraine.

Our activities are aimed at strengthening the cohesion of Ukrainians abroad to implement ideas related to the post-war recovery of Ukraine by leveraging the potential of the scientific community; providing advisory and informational support to Ukrainian scientists and university youth across various areas of scientific, social, civic, and other activities in Spain; and encouraging and supporting research activities and collaboration of scientists from Ukraine in Spain, among other initiatives.
